help

I am having trouble with a newly set up plane. All of the servos are jittering. I have individually uplugged all of the servos, bypassed the switch and traded out the receiver. I have another plane I use with the Futaba radio and it doesn't have this problem. Can anyone help with this.
Thanks, Kurt

RE: help

Are you testing this setup with the transmitter in close proximity to the receiver? If so, the Tx may be "swamping" the receiver. Try moving away a little.

Otherwise, if the battery pack just came off the charger the servos may jitter for a little while.

I tried your suggestion and it still jitters a lot. Could a bad crystal cause a problem like this.
Thanks,

Are your servos digital by any chance? I believe digital servos buzz even when at rest. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone.

RE: help

No they're not digital. They are Futaba 4003 and one 3003 for the throttle.

RE: help

Perhaps the location where you are testing has a lot of RF interferance flying around?

My first thought would be the receiver, but you said you tried a different one too...

Now if you are putting the same crystal in both receivers and it still chatters, it must be the crystal. I've never had one go bad, but I'm sure it can happen.

So you think it must be the crystal? I am testing it from home, not much flying going on.
Thanks, I'm gonna need another crystal anyway so I'll go ahead and grab one and try it.
Thanks

This may not have a thing to do with your problem but it won't cost anything to check. Is your battery fully charged???? ENJOY!!!! RED

Hi!
It has nothing to do with the crystal.
Do you use a Futaba receiver for your Futaba transmitter...you should! No Hitec receiver please!
Check the battery power for your receiver!
Also check range, how far you can move away from the reciever with the transmitter in hand.
Do this without transmitter antenna (unscrew it ). Range should be 4-6m. Only 1-2 m and you better trim the receiver.

RE: help

In the USA, contrary to Jaka's comments, Hitec and Futaba are 100% compatable and you can safely mix eithers transmitter and recievers as long as the Hitec receivers are also negative shift (Hitec makes both positive and negative shift receivers). Your problems sound more like a bad crystal in the receiver, especially if you are sure the battery is fully charged and the switch and associated wireing is good. Have you tried plugging the battery directly into the receiver (bypassing the switch and its wires)? Remember, in dual conversion receivers, there are two crystals, the one you can change and one other. If your receiver has been in a crash or suffered severe shock from any source, either crystal could have been damaged and you can only repace the one. You would need to have the other replaced by a licensed tech or shop such as the original manufacturer or some one like Radio South, preferably the manufacturer if the second crystal is the bad one.

My Hitec receivers work just fine with my Futaba transmitter.

Perhaps you should limit your comments to the radios you use.:D
