Engine for GP Cap232?
 

What is a good engine for the GP Cap232? Does the O.S. 46AX have the power for it? I have been flying a GP Super Sporster with a Super Tigre 45ABC and it does fine. Thanx in advance![8D]

Saito .82. Also, you should raise the tank a little to bring it up to carb level by tearing out a cross member in the upper framework.........doesn't hurt the plane's strength.

Park City ? You lucky dog, you. I have a 46 on my Kyosho Cap and it does fine. I think the Kyosho might weigh a bit more than the GP. IT would have to, its kinda chunky. I use an APC 11X5. The 10X6 was awful, just a dog. I've heard of guys using 12xsomething, 4 or 3.75 and getting near 3D vertical. Thats the key to aerobats really, gear it down. You would be surprised how good it would fly with a 46. And the down line is pretty slow to. And you really don't loose that much top end straight and level.

That Saito 82 is the hot one isn't it, the bored out one that is in a smaller case ? I really don't know enough about that one to say.

Thanks for the input! I would love to get into 4-strokes, but I don't know that much about them yet.

I really like the 4 strokes in the GP CAP232. I first flew mine with the YS .53. It flew very well, but I wanted just a little more power, so when the YS .63 came out, I went with it. Beautiful combination, and with the factory muffler all inside the cowl, pretty quiet too! I also think the Saito .82 would work well. If you do go with the .46 2 stroke, I would concur that you might want to go with the lower pitch props to keep thrust up, and all out speed down. However, the 12 1/4 x 3 3/4 prop seems awfully low on pitch, I wouldn't want it slowing down TOO much when you slam the throttle shut!

I built and have been running myt GP Cap 232 for a year now with a 50 SX.... Great combination... Lots of power and torque...
Remember this is not a 3D plane....The 50 SX is very light considering the power.

If you use a 2 stroke, you may want to put the rudder servo up front and use a pushrod or a pull-pull system to keep the CG where it belongs. If you use the suggested plan of rear mounting the rudder servo, you will end up tail heavy and need to lead to nose. If you use an OS .70 4 stroke, it will balance perfectly with the tail mounted servo. If you have ever thought about going to 4 strokes, here's your chance! You won't regret it. The OS .70 is a perfect match for this plane. Add some down thrust to your engine mount to make it fly right.

Thanks for the input! I think I will be going with the Matt Chapman ARF instead. Something about getting anxious to fly and nice weather.
