Which surface needs more torque
 

Really don't know where to post this.... but from a Servo setup standpoint....

which surface requires more torque/has stronger forces pushing against it....the elevator, or the ailerons?

For my uses, assume a large aerobatic/3D plane.......


Or another way to ask.... where would YOU put the stronger servos...on the elevator or the aileron?

Elevator.
And one on each aileron.
I've seen 13 servos on "large" 3D airplanes..
4 for the ailerons
4 for the rudder!!!!
4 for the elevator.
1 for the motor.

I was thinking elevator too....

I'll clarify a bit....
in my example.... assume 2 servos for the ailerons (one for each) and 2 elevator servos.....

using what I have I should use the stronger servos for the elevator? Correct?

my question make sense?

Your "strong" servos should be on the elevator and rudder. If you are using one servo for each aileron, a standard strength servo on each one will be fine. If you are using one servo for both ailerons you should have a servo at least as strong as your elevator/rudder servo (which ever is stronger )

For your choices, the elevator(s) is the one.

Now the rudder usually requires much more torque than any other surface. Just look at the requirements for the Showtime 3D, Funtana90, or any large gas plane

the surface with the most area will need the most torgue in most cases this is the elevtor followed by the rudder.small or standard servos are fine the the engine

Aware of the rudder... this is for a QQ 85" Yak... I have a 5955 for the rudder...then I have 2 more 5955's and 2 5945's...

the plan was for 2 5955's on the elevator and the 2 5945's on the aileron....

just thought I would double check with the RCU brain trust....
