How to paint canopy framework??
 

I'm building a Stuka and need to paint the molded in canopy framework. What is the best way to paint it? Do I mask off each window pane and then spray the whole thing? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Not sure how much framework is on the Stuka canopy or what color its supposed to be but I've used generic striping tape before and it works great. Very limited colors though so I'm not sure if its what you want.

Yeah, the Stuka has a sort of godawful canopy frame...Look at the windows in a Storch, sometime, too. Try this link for a really skilled builder's run at a warbird canopy. The plastic 3M masking tape from an auto paint supplier is important. It'll just take a fair amount of time.

I was afraid of that, sounds like I just have a lot of masking to do. I will finish cockpit then attach and paint the whole plane and canopy at once. Whish me luck!

Surf,
Remember that you will also be able to see the inside of the framework too. If you attach the canopy and use any colored filler to blend in the edges the filler will show from the other side. In this case you may want to paint the inside of the canopy too!!! I just finished this step on a Don Smith Ki-61 canopy.

Oh man, good point! So it looks like I have to paint it twice and ensure it all lines up. Whish me luck.
