Most Popular Engine Brand

Lets See wich one gets the most votes?

RE: Best Engine Brand

It's a silly question. There is no "best engine brand". The "best" engine depends upon a huge number of variables for any particular application & each application is different. There will be many "best" brands for many applications. Your question is a meaningless exercise in the politics of personal preference.

I agree with britbrat but since you're asking ;)

You need to add Jett to your list.

uh huh. here comes a can or worms. need fries with that.:D
Everyone one this site is going to say such in such is the best because I have it.
OS is overrated. they have good longevity but the power sucks, though if you throw some money at them. mac pipe a Perry pump and a bigger carb you can get some power out of them. there 4-strokes are ok. The saitos work great, little finicky on break in. the YS I've found have less dead stick landings during break in and more power. Webra should have gone the way of enya. old school is cool but update your medals tech will ya

For me it's a toss up on Rossi and Jett for the !QUOT!best 2-stroke!QUOT! nelson is the prooven champ but who can afford em
toss up between evolution and tower for the best cut rate motor
YS has my vote on 4-strokes. saito a very close second
and Zeohna with hand down on Gassers

Best for what purpose?
For some uses an MVVS might be best. Or Jett. Or ...
For some other stuff, a Hacker, Neu, Actro, or AXI might be best :)

True, but Hacker, Neu, Actro, and AXI are motors, not engines

You're missing the point by a couple of light years. There is no BEST engine -- there are many best engines, by many manufacturers. What might be a better question is -- "What is your favorite engine manufacturer?" -- even then, you really need to specify the numerous applications, because no single manufacturer can, or does, come close to covering all of the bases.

RE: Best Engine Brand

The poll is about the most popular not the best.
To choose the best or worst engine one must be more specific about the requirement.
OS will definitly be the most popular because the offer the widest range.

:([:'(][:o][>:][X(][:-][&o]:eek:Looks Like I just can't satisfy YOU!!! It is only a poll to see wich engine is the most popular engine! Why don't you create a poll with all the fancy detail and I promise I'll vote on it!

Yes, sometimes the best solution is not an engine :)

RE: Most Popular Engine Brand

I agree with Tailskid. 54 of my 166 glow engines are Fox. Of course, Cox made 37 of those 166 engines. Those two brands account for probably 80% of my I. C. powered flying.

LANNYBOB 03-18-2006 10:31 PM

RE: Most Popular Engine Brand

I dont see EVOLUTION on the list. nor MAGNUM or K&B or DA OR BME OR ZENOAH, OR ZDZ, OR FIRST PLACE, or FUJI or RCV

It's not the most meaningfull poll.

Rcpilot 03-20-2006 06:45 PM

RE: Most Popular Engine Brand

The best engine is the one that:

Weighs nothing
Turns your prop 2000RPM more than you expected
Does it on 5% nitro
NEVER breaks or needs fixin'
Always starts
Never needs tweakin' on the needle valves
Never blows a glow plug
Never needs a valve adjustment

Put that in your poll and smoke it. :D;)

Sport_Pilot 03-21-2006 10:28 AM

RE: Most Popular Engine Brand

Why did you exclude Fox and K&B, yet you include a brand that is no longer in production (MDS)?

captinjohn 03-30-2006 04:36 PM

RE: Best Engine Brand

I think there was about 3-4 popular brands of engines. They had their turn for being so. Now it has changed ....there are so many good engines.....no one person can say!!! Thats my 2 cents. Do not go by a poll....go to a few RC fields and see what engines there and running good. Capt,n
