Hmm... ANSI spec B1.1 calls for a 5-40 UNC and 5-44 UNF.... 5-45 is a real oddball... [sm=confused.gif]

Where did it come from?

Maybe it's a metric one measured in imperial?

My 'bible' (Machinist's handbook - ver 25) has UN threads at 32, 40, 44, 48, 56 per inch.

5-44 is concidered UNF
5-40 is concidered UNC

Unles it might mean the grade or type?

The 5-45 comes in 2 sizes.

4-40 ad 6-32.

Take your pick. :)

A 5-45 screw is when your wife or girlfriend wakes you up about quarter to six in the morning.
