Point-
If your refering to hitec 635 servos,I use them in some of my planes.I never had a problem. Some guys say the main hub breaks off.I was told that if you use loctite on the screw it reacts with the karbonite.I don't know. You really have to see what actually these guys are using them on.If it was that big of an issue,Hitec would pull them.My 2 cents.

RE: Karbonite gears

I have been really happy with all my hitec servos.

If you do a search here on RCU on karbonite you will have a ton of info on what people think.

In the Hitec manufacutrer forum there is also info.

If I recal Hitec has a weight limit for the size plane they recomend for karbonite gears.

RE: Karbonite gears

Karbonite is a composite. Most servos nowadays either have either nylon, metal, or composite gears. All of them work.

My Hitec with karbonite gears have worked great. I chose to use them in places where nylon might be stressed a bit much. All the Hitec servos with karbonite gears are listed as Helicopter-Boat or HeavyDuty servos. I took that to suggest they're stronger than nylon, not as hard as metal, and lighter than metal. Helos and boats have a lot more shake in them than airplanes, another reason to figure they're better.

None of my 635's and 475's fail yet under normal operating conditions. The gears in one of my 635's completely shattered in a crash, but that was to be expected.
