Epoxy vs JB Weld for wood to metal

I need to glue a wood Gear Door to a Retract Strut; typical Gear Door Brackets will not work in my application; which will work better at bonding wood to metal: EPOXY or JB WELD?

Thanks Doug.

If the surfaces are prepared correctly, polyurethane is the best bet.

"Goop" works really well for that application. Gear doors are subject to a lot abuse, and the Goop will flex a bit, but has real holding power. Also, if the gear door gets damaged, you can cut the glue away with a sharp knife, and add a new one.

Terry;

Never thought about 'Goop'; you are corect, that stuff has some give and flex with it, perfect for what I'm after, I also wonder what I will do if I have to take the gear apart, the expoxies will be next to impossible to take apart. I use 'Goop' on some Indoor EPP Foamies I have. thanks for the reply, you have been a great help.

Actually, I suggested the polyurethane glue. Terry gets the credit for Goop. The poly glues like Elmer's Ultimate and Gorrilla glue can also be sliced with a razor blade. It is beneficial to have the surfaces pourous or scratched heavily in order to get the best bond. Poly glue expands at it cures, and is activated by moisture.

Regular clear silicone works great also.

If someone did want to use an epoxy (two part) type glue though, it would be a toss up.... unless high heat were involved where the JB Weld would shine. (but cost more to use)

JB weld in my experience does not work on wood very well.

Hmmm, maybe it is too thick to penetrate well. Thanks for pointing that out.
