pattern vs. 3d
 

I've been flying a Funtana 90 now for about 6 months and have recently discovered it's limitation... Pattern flying. I am looking for advice on my next plane. Preferably something that would do well with a Saito-100. I would still like to have some 3-D capability, but I would like to focus a little more on precision acro. The Showtime 4D looks like it has some good pattern plane "lines" and looks to be a good match for the Saito. Any advice would be helpful. Looking for an ARF, no kits. Thanks!!

I guess I doubt you'll find a pattern plane that's also a 3d plane. The 3d planes I've seen have thick wings, huge control surfaces, and fly slow. The pattern planes I've seen have thin wings, normal size control surfaces, and they fly fast.

I prefer to fly the pattern style; but with my switch to the 40 and 90 Funtana's and 70 Katana, the patterns have been collecting dust. The latest pattern style plane I've bought was the Quest 90 from Ultra RC. It tracks so straight - up, down or knife edge. Then I saw Ultra's flight video on their site and the Quest was doing 3D even with the small ailerons. I'm not sure how the U-Can-Do series would work.
