Engine problems
I have been unable to fly for the past six months or so and my two O.S. 40LAs have been sitting around in that time and now I can't get them to start. Anyone know anything I can do short of buying new motors.

RE: Engine problems
they should run I I droped out of the hobby for 12 years and and my ole mottors fired right up check your fuel glow plug seals and make sure the cab is not pluged up if your fuel is six months old and was not seald air tight its most likely gone bad

RE: Engine problems
I think your right. There both leaking air where the cylinder meets the case any ideas how I could seal this.

RE: Engine problems
you can proble get just tightening it up

RE: Engine problems
Since this engine has a one piece crankcase and cylinder, how did you determine it is leaking where the cylinder meets the crankcase? More likely the o-ring that is supposed to seal the carb has dried out, or the backplate is loose or leaking.

RE: Engine problems
I noticed fuel leaking out where the head meets the case. I had to replace the head becuse I striped out the glow plug threads. It worked with the old head.

RE: Engine problems
Did you remember the copper head gasket? It was probably stuck to the old head.

RE: Engine problems
What gasket:D. Oh well I got tired off being grounded so I went ahead and bought a new and better engine, somtimes I like when things break becuse I can use it as an excuse to upgrade[8D]. But I will try to find that gasket (after the new engine comes in;)). Thanks for all the help.

RE: Engine problems
Use fresh fuel, a new glow plug, and an electric 12v starter. It also doesn't hurt to check that all your bolts are tight.

RE: Engine problems
Hey turns out the new head did come with a gasket. I showed the engines to our club expert and he descovered that my glow starter's battery had run down. So both my engines are running now and my glow starter has a new battery. Thanks for all the advice.
