Royal Skymaster
I just bought a Royal Skymaster kit without plans or instructions. After looking over the kit there is no way I would attempt to build it without them. Is there anyone out there that could run copies off or sell me plans and instructions. Those that have built the kit what did you use for power? Thanks Jim.

RE: Royal Skymaster
Jim,
I don't have the plans but if no one comes through check Ebay. Someone there has been offering the Royal plans for months. They don't have all of them up all the time but usually have several and I have seen the Skymaster offered a time or two. Good luck! Cliff |
RE: Royal Skymaster
Thanks Cliff, I have seen them offered on ebay before. I just got this kit on Saturday and I'm chomping at the bit to get started.

RE: Royal Skymaster
Will you be doing a build thread? I have one that my father started stashed away and would enjoy following a build thread.

I built this kit many years ago. Don't worry about not having instructions, they weren't worth the paper they were printed on. This thing is a typical Royal kit - A ROYAL PIA!
It was my first "Builder's Kit" It reminded me very much of the days of scratch building. As I recall, I was trying to figure out which way the Fins were built - Was the front of the bottom rib behind the LE or underneath it? (See first Pic) The drawing on the plan was actually an optical illusion (I am not kidding about this) Do you remember the famous Optical illusion that I have pictured below (Second Pic)? Well the plans actually had a similar drawing for the fin rib placement. So whether you get the plans or not, count on doing a lot of the engineering yourself Also, for what it's worth, if I could only have one, I would take the plans over the manual. |
RE: Royal Skymaster
Hey Scott, if you have a kit could you copy the plans and intructions for me. I would gladly pay you for your troubles. I don't know about doing a build thread, I have four children and with there activities it takes me a long time to put a model together. It would be like watching a flower grow. Thanks Jim.

RE: Royal Skymaster
Hey guys,
There another active Skymaster thread out there on the website. Has some nice pics and info on it. Would you you guys object to consolidating the 2 threads? Anthony |
RE: Royal Skymaster
I have no objections, Jim

Hi Folks,
New to this thread, I have a fully built Skymaster Marutaka kit (twin 40 2st), built some years ago. I am taking it out of retirement and in the refresh knocked of some lead weight in the forward engine bay. Does anyone have the CG for this plane pls, I have lost all written documentation. Many thanks, Bruce. |

RE: Royal Skymaster
First, thanks Deadeye. I'll try the spar and go from there.
David, does your plan give the CG in inches from the leading edge, if so this would be good confirmation, I hate to launch with the CG out, getting to old for the heart flutter. Many thanks, Bruce. |
RE: Royal Skymaster
Bruce, I have bought one of these kits but do not have it yet - it is on the way. If you still need an answer next week, email me and I will take a digital photo of the interesting part of the plans for you.

RE: Royal Skymaster
Jan,
Many thanks for your kind offer. I have a response that the CG is 3.5 inches from the leading edge, but futher confirmation is welcome. My email is [email protected] Cheers, Bruce. |
RE: Royal Skymaster
FedEx arrived sooner than I expected. According to my plans, I am going to call it 2 and 9/16 inches. The spar appears to be on the CG.
