Inverted engine setup: question
 

I plan to mount my 2-stroke .52 in the inverted position. I'm not sure what the rule of success is in reference to where the carb should be in relation to the fuel tank or any other things I need to look at to make it work. Thanks.

You want to make sure that the fuel line from the tank is within 3/8" of the SPRAYBAR in the carb.

Many kits are designed for the engine to be upright, so you will have to make some mods internally in the fuselage to get the tank at the correct height.

For the best success for flying upright and inverted, make sure the centerline of the tank and the center line of the spray bar is inline. The engine doesn't know the attitude it will be in, the only time you will fly and not have the fuel inline with the spray bar is extended knife edge.

I am using a satio 150 and will use it inverted ..something new to me as well.some guys said that while inverted you can set it up with a very slight offset to help reduce hydrolock..if you are using a satio and even if your not go to their website and you'll get some great advise.what the guy said previous to me is right on ..there is a fudge factor of maybe up to 1/2 inch but why do that.otherwise as I have now learned they work just fine!! be sure to lean the idle mixture when inverted..

The responses you've received are right on. If however you have a problem modifying the tank location, you might consider a Perry Pump or Cline Regulator. Then you don't have to worry about the tank. You can put it in the tail if you want, or . . . even on top of the vertical stabilizer and not go from lean to rich!

yup a cline regulator is a great idea and the heck with my advise...lol..
