V- Tail direction ( HELP)

Hi: I haven't had my Q-500 out for some time, and can't remember how the v tail goes. Looking at it form the rear which way do they move for left, and right? I think that when you hold it so as one of the vee's are up it moves the same way as a normal rudder. Is this right, or what?
Thanks, Gary

Yep; one up one down, will turn in the direction of the up side.

A vee tail works like a rudder, opposite the direction you'd expect the plane to roll if the surfaces were ailerons.

RE: V- Tail direction ( HELP)

Imagine that you have raised the vee tails until they are vertical. Now you have the same setup as a twin-tailed aircraft like the P-38 or B-24. Note that both surfaces move in the SAME direction to yaw the aircraft. Then, in your imagination, lower them to the vee angle of your design. The trick is to remember that this is a yaw control and not a roll control like the ailerons. (From somone who got it all wrong!)

Thanks for all the help. I suppose if i got it wrong for a test flight i could have only used the ailerons for control till i got some height, then i would see what happened when i used the rudder control. You don't use the rudder control much on these planes anyway, but it is nice to have it right the first time.
Thanks again, Gary Grassfield R/C MPLS.[8D]
