Is Gorilla Glue fuelproof ?
Hi Chaps,
Question as title : I have an application (not a firewall, it's a low strength application) where both raw fuel and burned exhaust gunge may impinge, and I need to know if cured Gorilla Glue will withstand this ? Nitro content will be 10% or maybe a bit more. Thanks, Boo |
RE: Is Gorilla Glue fuelproof ?
why dont you cover some wood with the glue and put it in a bucket with glow fuel and see if it dissolves

Hi!
Yes it will stand nitro! But why use it in such applications like on firewalls?! CA thin or medium (like "Flash") and 5-30min Epoxy is the glue to use here...much faster and ore easy to use. "Gorilla glue" or polyurethan glue which is it's correct name will best be used for planking foam wings and building all foam aircombat airplanes. |

I hope its nitro and gas proof!! If not, I've got some surprises in my future.

ORIGINAL: Boo2 ORIGINAL: jaka But why use it in such applications like on firewalls?! -- Boo Was flying a modified stick with floats when a float broke loose, inducing a spin form 200 feet up. Firewall damage was really the only wood damage to the plane (floats absorbed most energy). Now, with the firewall seperated, I was able to take a sharp razor and slice away the damaged wood. A little sanding, and my firewall is ready to glue back in...with poly glue. I for one would never dream of using CA on a firewall, but to each their own. |
