field table question
Can anyone tell me where I can find plans to build a table to hold airplanes when starting and working on them at the field?

They invented this stand you want. Do place wheels on the thing. I also used two peices of 3/4" steel pipe for the shelf on the right. It holds your flight box and still provides acess to the top of flight box. |
RE: field table question
One of our club members built a dozen of the Meroke stands for us to use. Most of our group really likes them. A few have have their own folding stands that they prefer, and some prefer setting up on the ground.

RE: field table question
Our field has 12 stands, best improvement we ever made at our field. I saw the plans in the AMA magazine and decided to build one. When I brought it to the field many of the older members began to grumble. "It's safety hazard", "It'll be a pain in the neck when I have to mow" etc etc . Once they tried it "they" began to build more. I guess I taught an old dog a new trick.

RE: field table question
I just built one today. This thing is awsome. My grandfather is 81 and i showed it to him. He is going to love using it because he has problems bending over to work on his planes.

RE: field table question
Barry built a bunch of these stands for our club. They are awesome.

RE: field table question
Those are ok.
But I have to say that I really don't care for handing a spinning prop between the two vertical 2x4's that hold the wings back. I prefer the tail-holding method where the front of the airplane is unencumbered. |
