Texas hobby shops

I'm going to be in the Houston, Texas area for the next couple of weeks. Are there any hobby shops you would recommend in the area.

Thanks.

The best (IMPO) shop is the "RC Hobby Shop" located on HWY 59 just south of HWY 90 and north of Dairy Ashford on the east side of the highway.

The second best shop (IMPO) is "Larry's Hobby Shop" located on I-45 N just south of FM 1960 on the east side of the freeway.

After that, they are all about the same (IMPO).

There is M&M in Bellaire, but just not the same as they used to be.

There is a shop on I-45 S near El Dorado Blvd.

And there are more smaller shops scattered throughout the city.

What part of town will you be in?

You looking for a club or a shop?

If you'll be in Galveston, the Texas City R/C club would be close http://www.tcrcc.org/ .

And there are 2 hobby shops in Clear Lake on I-45 heading to Galveston. Hobby Center at the El Dorado exit and Odyssey R/C at the NASA Parkway exit.

RE: Texas hobby shops

Thanks for the list of hobby shops. I'm in Texas City through next week, so I'll check them out. On my way into town I saw a Hobby Shop Right off HWY 45 near Bay Area Blvd, wasn't sure if they carried RC Planes, but I'll have more time next week. I also want to go to the Lone Star air museum, but they are only open 9-5 so I will have to see if I can get out of work early one of these days.

Thanks again.

Yes that shop carries planes. Not a bad shop, but just not near the selection at the RC Shop. The RC Shop has ARFs and kits stacked about four high around the entire perimeter of the shop. And it is not a small shop either. If I had to guess, I would say he has about 150 - 200 different planes in stock. He also has about any accessory you would need in stock as well as most all radios, engines, servos and anything else needed.

Bomber Field is way north of Houston, especially if you are coming from Galveston.

The Lone Start flight Museum is worth the visit. I would be sure to go, even if it is on a "long" lunch break.

We are going to the warbird fly latter this month there with our nephew.
