pull pull rudder setup?
 

Hi all, I am assembling a no name 40 size 3D bird and need help with the rudder setup. I have a Great Planes 2-56 pull pull system. I have horns on the rudder and the servo mounted. If I leave the cables parallel with each other, they will be exposed for half their length. Can I have the cable cross over each other in an x pattern? I would want to cover the cables with nyrod or similar at the point they would touch. Will I run into geometry problems doing this. Or should I just run them parallel and be done with it?

I have had to make many modifications to make things correct on this bird. I hope it flies well when it's done!

Crossing is perfectly fine.
The Nyrod tubing is also fine.
Geometry won't be a factor as long as the cables are the same distance apart at the servo and surface ends.

Thanks Paul, I got it set up to find out I made the cable ~ 1/4" too long. DOH! Better too long than short I guess. A little more work and that part will be done!

As I said, I made the cables too long. For some strange reason, I decided to read all the instructions. Wow! They showed a foolproof way to set cable length correctly the first time. Why do I need to learn the hard way?
Anywho, got everything hooked up now and it looks great. I hope to have this thing up in the air in the next month or so.

What is that foolproof way? I usually leave mine about 1/4" long, then use the clevises to adjust the length from there.

Setup one end of the cable and install on servo. Install the clevis and coupler on the horn, then thread the cable through the coupler and swag. Crimp the swag when the cable is a little loose and make final adjustment with clevis. One of those things I know I will remember to do in the future.
