Engine test stand
Which paint should I use to protect the wood for a engine test stand I'm building.....................Phil [8D]

RE: Engine test stand
I coated mine with Minwax PU, but if I was to do it over, use thinned epoxy. Engine test stands take a lot of abuse, hot oily exhaust is the true test for any finish that is "fuel proof". I used thinned epoxy on my field box where the fuel jug sits and it has held up well.

RE: Engine test stand
I have to agree with the epoxy. Mix up some 30 minute epoxy and thin it enought to be able to brush it on and you are good to go. Good Luck, Dave

RE: Engine test stand
The cost of my test stand was so low, I just left it unprotected. If it starts to have problems, I will just make a new one.
I think it cost me about $3 in lumber at most. |
