y connector

RE: retracts
i understand a y con. for the two main servos but you still have a 3rd one out there that needs to be hooked up...

RE: retracts
2 Y connectors. from the one leg of the 1st Y hook in the 2nd Y

RE: retracts
go with air operated and then one servo will be needed.

RE: retracts
Air retracts are far less "fiddly" anyway. I second the suggestion to go with Robart air retracts.

RE: retracts
The plans call for a retract servo for each main? So three retract servos? That is WAY overkill.
Airs would be best. Then all you would need is one MICRO servo. |
RE: retracts
Sorry, I disagree.
I tried Air retracts back in the 70's and hated them for various reasons. I became a "Mechanical Only" guy. I am now reviewing the Top Flite Cessna 310 which came with Robart Air retracts. I will admit that air retracts have come a long way, and the Robarts are excellent units, But I can't tell you how many times I wished they were mechanicals. My advise: Use 2 Y cords and don't even THINK about Pnumatics. |

Air is the way to go now. Lighter and less complicated. Running retract servos off the main airborne pack runs the risk of a stalled servo running the pack flat in flight. OK you can have a subsiduary pack but more weight and light modles fly better.
Air up spring down is failsafe. Use these quick connectors and incorporate a restrictor in the airline so they do not bang up and down. These are Robart and they work well. |
