Balancing a prop.

When I balance a prop. sometimes it will balance at one point and when I rotate it 180 degrees it will rotate back 180 degrees to the original point. Does this indicate a heavy leading or trailing edge?

Are you using one of those balacers that is held up with magnets?
I noticed that on mine, the metal rod would "climb" on one side, when I spun the prop, and it would "unwind" and turn the prop back to the original place. Either that ot you could have a badly out of balance prop, at the hub.

It is the one with the rod held up by magnets, that is just what happens. the prop just unwinds. Seems to do that on all of my props.

Yes, thsat's what mine did. Did you use the plastic disks that came with it?
I lost mine and had that problem, so I just made more. Also, when you have the prop close, or, you think it is balanced, turn the pull the rod away when turning, and re-check. One more thing, did you adjust the magnets so the rod only makes contact on one side?

As long as it's even close, that's plenty good enough. The AMA recently did a report show how unnecessary prop balancing is.
