Removing paint from cloth covering
I've inherited the remains of a 40 size cub covered in cloth and painted olive drab with invasion stripes. It used to be the father-in-laws and after sitting in his basement for 10 years, I've taken it home to redo it and make it a float plane. It only has one rip in the cloth so, I'll try and repair that (don't know how), but the big thing is, how do I remove the paint and prep the surface before I paint it standard cub yellow?

I don't think it is possible to remove paint from fabric. Painting over the top would probably work, but it's going to be heavy.

I would strip it off and re cover it.

Ditto... re-paint if you can tolerate the weight, or strip cloth and re-cover.
Note that if you have bumps in the existing paint/fabric, you can just sand down those bumps and fill (if needed) before re-painting. - George |
