Franciscan Hobbies on Van Ness in S.F. is / was pretty good.

San Antonio hobby shop is closed. Sheldon's Hobby Shop is under new ownership and is a waste of time unless you are into RC cars. I work in the Bay Area, and the best hobby shops are all online from here.
