6V Nihm Receiver Packs - Regulator or not

If I want to use 6v NiHm battery pack to run servos, will I need a regulator. After the initial charge, the reading I got was 6.8v

I use Futaba gear [ FF9 ]and have had no problems running 6v NiMh packs with both analogue and digital servos.

Do remember that your flying time is REDUCED when the voltage is increased. Increase the pack capacity by 25% or more!

I've never had a problem. Have three 6 cell NiMH, one being sub C, in various planes. Go for it.

Hi!
No problems using 6V with most servos but you better check out some servos as both JR and Futaba have servos that doesn't like a 5cell battery pack (6Volts).
All JR and Futaba receivers are capable of running on 6volts though.

I know about the JRs but which Futaba servos don't like 6v. ?

And which JR servos don't like 6 volts?

Thanks

The Futaba ones are listed on their website ( maybe Towers too ) as 4.8 only.

I have all kinds of JR servos and although all the ones I have will run on 6 volts the coreless ones will scream like a banshee when the voltage is over about 5.8 volts and as stated a fully charged pack will give you about 6.8 volts. This stops as the voltage goes down.

I have always regulated my voltage to 5.7 volts but I am rethinking this after almost losing 2 planes that had the voltage regulator pack it up. I was just lucky it started as an intermitted problem and not a sudden all out failure.

Two people at the club that I fly at have crashed as a result of problems with [ cheaper ] regulators.
