Hinge Line
I know the control horns should be place on the hinge line for optimum performance.
However the instruction manual(540-EDGE) shows the control horn for the Rudder about 1/2 to 3/4 of a inch behind the hinge line.?? Is there a reason for that? should i really do it that way? or am i just being a old grouch. Thanks for the help |
RE: Hinge Line
The pivot point of your control horn should always be exactly on the hinge line. Some control hors have offset/longer horn arms to allow for adjustment but the pivot still should be over the hinge line. Look at this horn and you'll see what I mean. It has a long arm which can put the mounting back from the hinge line but the pivot will still be over the hinge line. This situation comes about when you have double beveled hinge lines for 3D control surfaces which calls for horns with extented arms.
