Hey all!
I was just thinking how COOL it would be for a plane to be covered in COMPLETLEY clear covering... so you could see all the balsa and electronics, etc... if ANYBODY had covered there planes in clear covering please post pictures! thanks

Some ARF's come covered in see through covering. It's not clear but colored, yet similar to what you're asking for.
Here's a pic from my Harrier 3D.http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...140/seetru.jpg

ya thanks timmy that is pretty cool i've seen them before but im talking about like clear over the sheeting and all the balsa so it LOOKS as if its not covered... i think that would be a one of a kind

I've seen plain, clear covering on some smaller electric planes. You just have to make sure and do some opaque colored markings for orientation. I wouldn't want it on a plane I built though; then everyone would see all my mistakes and repairs.

hahah true true.. Im just saying like a VERY well built plane maybe by a professional builder or something.. but yea i didn't think about orientation that would be difficult

I seem to remember a model in a magazine many years ago that the builder highlighted the framework with a black marker pen then covered it with clear monokote. The markings looked just like the sheet of plans would, complete with the written instructions and building construction lines. It was somewhat unique.

I only use clear monokote for side windows on airplanes with flat sides, such as the Senior Kadet. It makes a clean, easy to do, non-leaking window!

I used to have a trainer that I had covered on one side with regular covering and trim and on the other side it was done in CLEAR monocote. Not bad but you better be real good at keeping track of a plane. It's nothing new. ENJOY !!! RED

My buddy covered a Kadet Senior with Transparent red, orange and yellow. He fadded it back on the fuse and flying surfaces. VEry cool looking plane. He sold it soon after to a man that was going to light it up and night fly with it. Have not seen it since.

Here's my 12' Westerner and Mojo .40 with transpearant covering. Another pic of my Westerner is in the RCU pic of the moment right now.
the big thing to remember is that you have to be very good at seams because they show up very well with anything like this.
