Building Board
 

I need a building board that is at least 16" wide, and 36" long. Is there any where I can buy one...

I lent mine to a budy and he will not return it...at least for now, but need one asap, and the company that I bought my last one from is no longer in business.

Any help would be nice...

Home Depot, ceiling tile, and use the back side , pins stick in well. Remember, it will only be as flat and level as the surface it's setting on :D

That would be one ex-buddy.

I use a big piece of glass 4X8. It's perfectly flat and spills, or stuff mixed on it, scrape right off. Not too portable though......

Thank you for the replies, and I did go to the local large hardware store, but I needed to buy the whole square, not just one piece. Hence, I would be willing to buy from a hobby dealer, if it would be cheaper. We do not have a model airplane hobby shop on Maui, and I miust fly to Honolulu, or mail order all my supplies.

My good buddy that has my building board is in the middle of a ragging romance, and still has his model half built, and on that board. I can not fault his priorities at the moment, but as soon as he gets his priorities back in line, he will finish his project, and return my building board...I do pray !

I just purchased a building board...wright building board and it is very nice, strong and quality product. cost is $79.00 but well worth it come in 3 sizes I bought middle size. think it is website wrightbuildingboard.com or do search on wright building board.

Jus a note, Wright building boards are no longer available due their going out of buisness.

Like Bob, I use a 2' x 4' sheet of 3/8" glass but using spray contact cement I laminated 4"x 48" x 1/2 " sheet balsa to it.

Sweet, but very heavy.

I heard drywall works well too. I know you can buy that in single sheets. One sheet will actually give you a few building boards. Good luck.

I use a piece of foam board from an arts & craft store - Michaels. It is basically a rigid foam sandwitched between two sheets of white plastic. It will be located near the picture frames because I think it is used as a mounting/backing material for picture frames. You could buy two and tape them together or buy one, cut it lengthwise and then tape them together. I bought a piece of it and it works very well even for laminants. The one I got is about 1/2 - 3/4" thick so you can push the pins in at angels if you need to. The cost is only a few bucks for each sheet.

I use a 16x48 building board mfg. by GreatPlanes and sold through Tower Hobbies for $30.00 ($22.00 for the 16x36) plus shipping. I'm using 'T'-pins with the "pin driver" (no sore thumbs):D

I will be in Maui on April 16th of 2004 for my daughter's wedding. Going to stay for a week. I thought I could locate some R/C fliers and fields if possible. Do you have any suggestions

1/2 in. drywall cheep and you can stick pines in it real easy . For a backing to keep it flat 1"" partical board you can make any size board you want.
