Geolon Woven Geotextile Runways
Our club, the "Millington Barnstormers", are discussing the possibility of installing a "Woven Geotextile" runway at our field. Before we proceed, we would like to hear from other clubs who have experience with this product. Ideally, we would like to find a club within a days drive from the Memphis Tenn area. If possible we would like to arrange a visit to a field that uses a geotextile runway, and see it first hand. Please contact me at: [email protected]

Where do you get it? We use a mat material taken off of a paper machine at a pulp mill. Works great. How thick is the stuff you are looking at? Any info on it? I am not familiar with that one.
You need to make sure it is heavy enough not to curl up and shrivel in the rain, and not blow in the wind. Let us know what this is you are looking at using. Sounds interesting. |

We would like to find a club in the near geographical area that is using this stuff so we can take a look at it. |
runway
Our club, Northwest RC installed a Petro-Mat runway 5 years ago. It was the best $750.00 we ever spent, 330x30. It took me two years to talk the club into doing it but it was well worth the cost and effort. The only negative is that it is susceptible to prop strikes, go to your local home store and by a case of the cheapest silicon caulk you can find, works terrific for repairs. Feel free to call me if you have any ??. We are located in Minnesota so a visit would not be practical.
