Around how much does fuel for a Alpha-40 Trainer cost? Where can I buy it for cheap?

RE: Fuel

18 to 24$ a gallon around here
depends on if your gogin to run 10 or 15% nitro

i beleive that plane has a 10 oz tank so one gallon is 12.8 refuels i easly do 14 minutes and ahve some left so 179.2 minutes per gallon (assumign you empty the tank in 14 minuts which would be alot of full power flying, not lickly when learning)

24/179.2 =~13 cents a minute your flying

So thats about the cost of fuel but i must warn you there will be other cost, such as glow plugs and such

Fuel is $15 a gallon here for 10-15 nitro and should last you at least 2 weeks if you fly alot,or a good month if you fly only a couple times a week. And buy a good quality fuel.....it does make a difference, particularly toward the end of your gallon. Cheap fuels tend to make your engine run like crap when your gas gets down to the "bottom of the barrel" so to speak.

If you're concerned about the cost of fuel then reduce your nitro content. Your engine will run fine on 5% nitro, it is less expensive, and your engine will consume the lower nitro fuel more slowly. Also, don't get caught up in the highly advertised fuels. In my opinion they are no better than the lesser known ones. Sig, Powermaster, S&W and similar are excellent. Don't pay extra for anything green!

A good rule of thumb is 1oz per minute per cubic inch at Full throttle; you do the math.

We get a bunch together annually and take a trailer to the S&K outlet in Tatamy, PA. I think 10% was like $11 a gallon last time (and I hope we do it again soon as I'm about out). It doesn't pay to buy more at one time than you'll use in two, maybe three years if it's stored well. It will go stale.

It's also good to support your local hobby shop . . . especially with things that have high shipping costs and fees. ;-)
