RE: GP Sand Bars
I use both the 5.5 and the 11" bar. Each has it's own good uses.

me too 5.5" and 11"

RE: GP Sand Bars
I have 2 each 5.5 and 2 each 12 inch. They have different grit papers on them. I also have the 22 inch one which is great for the leading and trailing edge's, however not a requirement. Good Luck, Dave

RE: GP Sand Bars
what i do is buy the 33" and cut it into three pieces 11" long each with there own grits and another 33" and cut it into three 5 1/2" pieces all with there own grit. usually 80,150 and 220 the left over piece i usually donate to a club for a funfly prize.
Why do i use 33"? Good question look at the pricing i find it cheaper to just cut it myself. 7.99 for a 33" and 6.99 for a 22" and 4.99 for a 11" Dennis |
RE: GP Sand Bars
I did what Dens did, but cut it in two, at about the 2/3 mark. I now have a long one & a short one..
I just cut the paper so that there is about a 1/2" - 1" overhang. this fold over, and seesm to fit my fingers as I sand. No need to glue / adhere teh paper, and different grits slide on & off.. |
RE: GP Sand Bars
I have been using the 11" exclusively, and I haven't run into a situation where I wanted it longer, but I love the idea of buying the 33" and cutting it 1/3 and 2/3. Genius.

RE: GP Sand Bars
The longer one(s) is also great for smoothing wing ribs prior to covering. Gets them all in nice alignment instead of one or two at a time which will allow different heights.
You can also go to a hardware store, even Lowe's, and buy aluminum "T" extrusions that are a lot cheaper than the GP blocks. |
RE: GP Sand Bars
But the GP blocks have that comfy handle! :D:D
