Bind Plug HELP HELP
 

Howdy,
I have just bought a spectrum 2.4Ghz conversion for my 9C and all is well, But can anyone tell me what the Bind Plug actually does, you plug it into the charge lead on the reveiver switch, during the binding process, For the life of me I cannot see what it does and the manual doesn't explain what it does either, the two pins inside the plug dont even match up to the two battery pins as the are next to eachother and in the bind plug they are at either side, Is it just a saftery measure to remind you to bind?? Thanks for any help.

G'day Zen,
The bind plug shorts the negitive, & the signal lead together. When you turn the switch ON, this is what tells the RX to go into binding mode, ie the lights on the RX's flash, then when you hold the bind button, & turn on your TX, a GUID code is sent to the RX, this is what binding does, so that the RX responds only to that TX that has that particular GUID code, GUID stands for Globally Unique Identifier code. there are about 4 billion GUID codes available.
So it is not just there for show, or to remind you to do anything, it is there for a very good reason, & the pins are not supposed to line up with the positive wire, if it did, it would be a dead short, when you plugged the bind plug in & switched on the switch.

In addition, the two wire charging wire that is mentioned in the original post won't work for binding. Need the three wire charge jack and then the binding plug.

Hi!
A two wire charging jack and contact will not work when binding. Must be a 3 wire harnes.

But what you do if you don't have 3 wire contact harnes, is to connect the binding plug to the battery intake in the receiver...and attach the 4,8v-6V battery lead to one of the servo jacks in the receiver (ie aileron ,throttle, siderudder ).

The purpose of the bind plug is for you to put it somewhere then forget where you put the darn thing:D

More seriously, if you don't have a spare servo jack for the battery you can use a Y lead in the battery jack. One lead of the Y connects to the switch, the other is used when you need to connect the bind plug.

Many thanks to you who replied to this, I have a center pin plug charging system set up on all my planes so the y lead or battery into a spare channel is spot on.
Thanks again. Would be nice if Spektrum described this in their user manual.
