engine box

Is it OK to remove the bottom corner of the engine box in order for muffler clearance on a 50cc size plane or is there another mounting method. If I use longer standoffs my engine will be to far forward. How much of the engine box can be safely trimed away?

Depends on lots of things, but I would not remove anything without reinforcing it a bit on the inside. Pics would be helpful..
