I agree!
if you are going to do the sideslip? Practice it up high (3 mistakes)
until you are proficient with it. It is a tricky move and requires both thumbs and a brain all working in tandem to get it smooth. and you want to to be able to do it without having to think about it. Only then try this maneuver lower down.
If you've put some effort into that plane it is nice to keep it around for awhile.
The side slips works great if you are High and/or Hot and especially if dead stick and only get one chance to hit the runway. The side slip maneuver is used mainly to drop altitude with out gaining speed, or to lose speed by using the side of the plane as a big air brake or flap.

Just land with the throttle like stated.

This thread reminds me of a couple times when I had a dead stick with my Morris Knife and came in way too hot. I just did a quick loop right over the runway threshold and set her down. Sure did bleed off some energy. Not recommended for a more conventional type of plane, hehe. :bananahea :cool:
