RX battery choice

I'm assembling a giant ucando with 8 servos, 3 being digital. In the past I've always used 4.8v 1000 mah in all my planes.

My question is what battery is best to use in this? I'd like to go 6v since the servos are rated for it. Is there a disadvantage to the higher voltage? Nicad or nimh? What mah would be good for about 4 flights w/o a recharge?

Or you could always go lipo with a regulator to save some weight.

I use 6v 1800 mah NIMH as a matter of course in that sort of set up.

If it is the first time you are going digital do watch out for battery drain. Digitals are power hogs! If you have a smart charger see how much you need to put back in after 4 x 10 min flights.

I personally don't like the Lipo / regulator route [more stuff to go wrong] but if weight is really important then it does work.

This is sort of another Chevy vs. Ford thing. You will get a lot of different opinions. I use lipos in my electric powered planes and helis only. In a plane like yours a 6V 1800 Sub C Nicd pack would be my choice.
I tend to stay away from Nimh when ever possible. Send me a PM if you would like some further information on where to get them.
