OS120 on 1/4 scale Sig Cub

1 Attachment(s)
I'm putting an OS120 on my 1/4 scale Sig Cub and it looks like the cylinder is near the top of the cowl. Does this look correct? Should I mount it inverted? Will I need an Onboard Glow Plug Starters if its inverted?

Hi!
Thats the correct way of mounting it!
No on-board glow necessary!!

I have found that mounting four strokes inverted is OK. About the only thing you have to be careful of is that the tank is not placed too high which could cause fuel to syphon into the carb. I would suggest that you use an OS "F" type plug and you should have no problems. I have never needed an on board battery with either my OS 90 FS or my FS 26's on a twin.

You can mount it in any orientation that you like so long as the crank center line is in the right place. I have inverted 4-strokes that run just fine. You don't reall need an on-board glow system but an inexpensive remote glow plug setup is nice and avoid having to fiddle around trying to connect the glow driver underneath the plane.

Everything Chuck said and I make up my own remote glow starters using A Cermark head lock and A radio shack mono, head phone jack. Only thing I have ever had to do to invert an engine is make sure the low end is tuned correctly, just A taste on the lean side.

I just ran it and I got about 6800 rpms with a 16x8 prop using 15% nitro and 18% oil.
