there is a rule of thumb....from the leading edge of both wings but a mark 1/3 the width of the wings from the leading edge..ie if the wing cord is 30 inches...from the leading edge make a mark at 10 inches....now connect the 2 marks on both wings with an imaginary line...CG will be half way between the wings..This is not gospel but a ball park figure that will be real close....you may need to adjust after the maiden flight

Great illustration! But how do you determine where the "upper area" ends and the "lower area" begins?

RE: WHAT ARE THE CG'S

Don't know anything about your plane but if it's a constant cord wing, straight, no swept then it's easy. Just get your plane level, with a straight edge or tee square butt it up to the TE. The top wing will be forward, measure from the LE of the top wing to the TE of the bottom wing then devide the distance by 4. 25% from the LE will give you a plane with no surprises and you can change the CG during trim flights to suit yourself from there. I don't have the address but maybe someone will post up one of the CG calculator sites for you if you are having any problems. You just put in your measurements and click and the CG comes up. There are several different types of wing configureations to give you an answer without knowing what type of wing set up you have.
