How to balance a Skybolt??

I'm ready to balance the Skybolt kit I just built, and it calls the CG 2.75 inches from the leading edge at former number 7 on the top wing(right where the interplane struts are)How do others balance this plane or other bi-planes? I tried it upside down and it seemed tippy(too much weight above the balancer) If I tried right side up, the TF balancer would interfere with the landing gear and bottom wing. Thanks, Grayle

This plane has to be balanced right side up

Just use your fingers

Minnflyer, I figured you'd say that! I tried doing it with the fingers and it didn't lean significantly either way, its just hard for me to tell if the nose is leaning slightly down without looking at it from the side.

Just get it close and go fly it. You will probably shift the CG aft once you get a feel for her.

I just use my fingers. I have one of those fancy Top Flite jobs. More trouble than it is worth.

I use my fingers and then do the final adjustment by how it flies.

Do it next to a large mirror

Hey Grayle,
If you make one of these, make two and I will pay you back. Also, I just made myself a 70A ammeter to test my electric setups. It works pretty well. (it cost roughly $5). Maybe we can barter.
