Binding two 2.4 receivers
 

I've got a good one for you radio guru's. I am building a jet that I want to run two spektrum receivers in. I know everybody tells me it's unnecessary but I want to do it for my own piece of mind. Now when I bind two 6200 receivers together everything works fine, but I need more channels so I bought a ar9000 for the main and was going to use one of the ar6200 as my other side since it will only be running one side of control surfaces. When I bind the ar9000 and ar6200 everything gets crazy. One or the other will bind correctly(whichever binds first) and the other the bind lights come on, but when you move the sticks you only get elevator and rudder movement . The really wierd part of the whole thing is that left aileron stick input gives you elevator movement and right aileron input gives you rudder movement. The other receiver works perfectly. I have bound each receiver seperately and they work fine and I tried binding two different 6200's to the 9000 and still get the same result. Any ideas?

I am nowhere near being a radio guru and have no idea why or if you should use two receivers. But, did you try binding them in the plane, one at a time with the other rx turned off? Since the point of this 2.4 thing is to only be flying one receiver/setup at a time, it makes sense that trying to bind two rx' together would cause problems. Doing them independently would be the same thing to the system as binding separate planes.

I know it has been a common practice to have dual receivers in larger, more expensive planes for redundancy and power distribution.

As for the Chris' problem, it sounds like you need to have matching receivers to do so for the Spektrum systems. Contact Spektrum/Horizon and see what they say.

Since every full range Spektrum receiver has at least two receivers to begin with (main and at least one remote), and you can get the AR9100 which actually has four receivers (main and three remotes) and two battery inputs, trying to bind two separate Spektrum receivers may not be the best way to go anymore.

If its a 9303 its going into 2048 resolution mode when it binds to the 9000 and 1024 mode when binding to the 6200.

There's no way around that other than to get another 2048 reciever if thats the problem.

It is a 9303 transmitter. That is more than likely the issue. Thank you for the input guys, I knew somebody on here could figure this out!

I've got dual AR7000 RX's in a larger gas plane. The radio is a DX7.

Binding dual RX's is a piece of cake. Put the bind plug in the left RX and bind it. Turn it off and move the bind plug to the right RX. Bind the right RX. Remove the bind plug.

Fly.

Works perfectly.

Thats great if the recievers are the same OR the transmitter isn't capable of 2048 but when he binds the AR9000 with the 9303 its in 2048 resolution mode and then when he rebinds the 6200 it wont operate at 2048 so the transmitter shifts down to 1024, now when he turns them both on the AR9000 is expecting a 2048 signal and doesn't get it so it won't link or acts nutty.

It would be fine if it were a DX7 that doesn't transmit in 2048 mode.

If it were a DX7SE he'd have the same problem.

I posted so that guys with a DX7 and AR7000 would know it IS possible to do it on that system.

Hi!
So you mean a DX-7SE transmitter will not send in 2048 mode with AR 6200 receivers??? What else receiver doesn't work in 2048 mode???

Have just ordered a DX-7SE transmitter from the states and wonder what Spektrum receivers work in higher resolution???

If you go on www.horizonhobby.com and look at the receivers for spektrum they will have a link to the instruction sheets that come with each different type of receiver. From what I can tell the AR6200 and AR7000 are both just 1024. You have to go with a nine channel or higher to get 2048.

The 6200 and 7000 will run in 1024 mode, the 7100 and up run in 2048 with the 9303 or SE

Ok, here is my problem. My JR 11x radio fried this week....long story short, my trailer completely filled with black soot....I lost all of my programs, 6 planes and 1 heli. One of them being my Comp Arf Extra 300S with DA 100. I had this set up with dual Spektrum recievers. I got information on how to bind this then but now when I try to bind one then the other, it only stays bound to the last reciever bound. I tried going from left to the right, and right to the left. I don't know what I am doing wrong.....HELP...
