Hangar 9 J3

Hi Guys

I just bought a used Hangar 9, J-3 Cub, with 80" wing span. (46 sized I guess) Anyhow, no manual, and need to know if the wing struts are needed. Are they functional, or just for looks??

Thanks guys

Bruce

Next to the best 40 size J-3 ARF made. The only one better is the new one with the two piece wing.

Resist putting too much engine on it. A Saito 72 pretty much over powers it.

A 60 size two stroke is also too much

A OS 40 LA is just right. I had a Saito 50 on mine

I pulled the wing covering back and glassed the center of the wing. I don't mess with the wing struts, get tired of them, but when doing loops I back off the power.

I have a Saito .56 in mine and it flys great, and has more power than needed. Very nice plane
