12v Computer Power supply use?

I saw a while back an article and instructions on converting a computer's 12v power supply for use as a charger power supply. I remember there being a 5v dummy load on one of the leads for it to work, but I don't know which wires do what... Does anyone know where that article or a similar one would be?

sometimes the wire colors are listed on the side sticker with all the rail information. I have converted two of these so far. I made mine so i could use the 12v and 5v rails. figured it might be handy someday but only have used the 12v so far.

ps whoever did that tutorial did a good job.

I've converted about 5 of them and have used 2 of my own for about 4 yrs now... it's a very easy way to get an inexpensive reliable power supply

Thanks again guys! I just finished mine and it works great with my tritan! The link left a lot of questions so I found a much simpler explanation here if anyone else wants to try...

The simplest is get a older PC supply like the pentium 100-200mhz board supplies. Anyway the older PC supplies dont require a load to make them run all you have to do is yank all the wires but the yellow and black there will be maybe 4 or 5 of each cut out the rest red is 5V if you want to add that. but run a couple of the wires to one banana plug to help with carrying current. I have 2 sets of 12V on mine and a cute little Radio shack panel meter I have been using this supply for 3 years now. Got more use out of it than I did the PC.
