Clear hospital tubing?

Can someone please tell me if the clear tubing used in hospitals for IV's and such, good for glow fuel?

Reason I asked was because my dad just gave me a load of it.

Thanks
Blackie

I don't think so, but I can tell you a good use for it...

Use it to run your antenna to the back of the plane through. :)

If you're talking about the clear, "hard" (as compared to surgical tubing), yet flexible tubing, it should be fine. I believe it's the same stuff they use in fish aquarium air lines and I've use that for my glow engines for years. Before surgical tubing, it was either that or the black neoprene fuel lines. I hated the neoprene because you couldn't see where the fuel was in relation to the fuel inlet. I liked the clear tubing because you could tell when the fuel reached the carb.

It does get hard eventually, but takes a long time to do so. Not necessarily a bad thing as it will be "conformed" to your particular application. This is the same tubing as the pickup tube inside the tank of the Cox Babe Bee engines. Power pods I use on some gliders (D & R brand, I believe?) also used them inside as the pickup tube. Also, the stuff is a lot cheaper (if you get it in bulk - or "free" in Blackie's case!) than surgical tubing, which also disentegrates over time.
