Propeller Selection??

Is there a general guide or better yet, a program, that can assist with propeller selection? With all the different engines out there and different planes to put them on, I am curious if there is a guide to go by. I currently have the Thrust HP program to estimate a props performance, but doesn't help with selection verses plane. Would appreciate some tips or push in the right direction. Thanks!
PS>Currently running APC props as follows;
11X6 w/GMS 47 = Hangar 9 P-51 PTS (no training droops or brakes on)
11X6 w/Tower 46 = Tower Hobbbies MKII .40 Trainer
10X7 w/Magnum GP 25 = Combat Plane

RE: Propeller Selection??

Hi,

This link http://www.bolly.com.au/book/ and other charts will get you "in the ball park" from there it is a "suck it and see" approach as various brands with the same diameter and pitch will perform in different manners. Then as you pointed out there are different flying styles and huge variety of models and weights even within the same ARF or kit depending on setup. On a 50cc 3D model I have just changed from a 19x6wide to a 21x8. Trial and error is the answer.

Cheers,

Colin
