The main shaft is too short for plane use. also the shaft dia. may be to small as well. the prop won't fit. Dennis

the only I have ever done like that, was in a ducted fan set-up...

I thought the os.15 was weak so I put in a bigger car motor

what is your setup going to be ??? that might help some other people answer your ?

hi i have a vertex 2.95cc nitro engine out of a tranosaurus truck,
and was wondering if i could convert it for a 46 size trainer i have . how did the ducted fan set up work was it powerful enough and what kind of plane did it go into?

when I did the swap.. I went from a 400' roll out to a 100'

topend was was gained big time.. I was happy with and went into a kyosho f-16

but looking at the numbers on the .18 vertex I doubt youll have the plower to pull a 40 sized trainer your best bet is to buy a another glow motor and save the hassle for something else

there are alot of of cheap options out just look around

ive converted a boat engine for plane use, (aquacraft 18) it works just fine, but is nowhere near powerful enough to pull a 40 sized trainer

How did you mod the boat engine i have one but i rhought they needed to be liquid cooled...i havent found much information on this topic...so i think its not done because the rpm's r about half that of an airplane motor and the shaft is the wrong size...i would think that you could fix the rpm proboem by putting a steeper bigger prop allbe mounted and balanced at home???

It's not worth the effort, even if it does work. Think about what your time is worth- maybe $15 an hour? So you make adapters and take off the water jacket and mod the plane for mounting, spending maybe 10 hours on the project. $150 worth of your time and the loss of the boat engine to avoid buying a $139 engine? It doesn't make sense.
