Flickering Voltwatch?
With a fully charged battery (6V NiMH, 1400mAh), the Voltwatch reads a steady "Max" reading with the airborne system turned on and the transmitter off. As soon as I turn the transmitter on, all of the LED's down to the lowest red one, show dimly. As I move the control sticks, all the LED's light up brighter. The battery has been recently cycled and checks out. What's up?
If I had a scope, I could monitor the voltage in real time, but so far this is one toy I've not acquired. Any ideas? |
RE: Flickering Voltwatch?
make sure it set at 6 volts. There's a small switch on the left side. Bob |
RE: Flickering Voltwatch?
It is set on 6V

RE: Flickering Voltwatch?
Turn on the Tx first and then the Rx. When you move the sticks, the leds should light up. Not all of them however. Check your Rx battery with a voltmeter to be sure of it's voltage also. Bob |
RE: Flickering Voltwatch?
This does not sound at all normal. I've used at least 5 different Voltwatches and all performed very well. I'd suspect one of three problems: a defective Voltwatch, improperly set up (switch not set to 5 cells) or you have a defective part or two (could be a poor power switch, a servo or two drawing excessive currentmaybe bound up or sticking or a battery with a very high internal impedance which is not likely. If possible, swap out individual components one at a time starting with the Voltwatch then the battery then the switch between the receiver and battery. You do have the Voltwatch plugged into the receiver on a spare channel and not on a Y, correct?

ORIGINAL: Rodney You do have the Voltwatch plugged into the receiver on a spare channel and not on a Y, correct? If you open up an RX you'll notice that the tracks of the -ve and +ve are (more likely than not) just interconnected.... In effect the channels on the RX are (in terms of the +ve and -ve) just a giant, multi-legged "Y"..... by this logic you can add a voltwatch anywhere you like... |
