Best method for cleaning gunge off glow engines?
 
Anyone got a good method for cleaning burnt on gunge from engine crank cases?

The Dawn Power Disolver works well if you keep after the grunge. Don't let many layers burn on or you will have to leave the DPD soak on a warm engine for quite a while.

I agree Dawn Power Dissolver and an old toothbrush work wonders. Wish we had it when I was a kid.

I have never tried the Dawn, and don't know if it is something that you can get in the UK, but if not you can cook the engine in a crockpot of automotive antifreeze overnight. Just dont use that pot for cooking food anymore. Do a search and you will find hundreds of results for this topic.

I've had good results with odorless oven cleaner spray.
