My rx melted!
[&o] Don't know why but....After installing servos in my plane, I attempted to plug the 6volt battery into the r/x. I no more plugged it in, when the wire from the battery got so hot it heated up the pins in the r/x so bad they were stuck in the battery connector when I pulled it out. I'm afraid to try it with my new r/x
in fear that it will happen again. Need help please! Thanks for any ides....Bill |

RE: My rx melted!
I'll bet it was a Futaba receiver and that you plugged the battery connector into the battery slot reversed. On many of the older futaba receivers, the center pin and the ground pin are connected together in the battery slot ONLY. Now if you plug the battery connection in backwards, you get an instant short on the battery cable which usually burns out the wireing to the battery before any other damage is done although the copper strip connecting those two pins together on the receiver could be burned open. If you had plugged the battery into any slot other than the battery slot, no damage would have occurred anywhere, it just would not have powered up the receiver. Chances are good that the receiver has not been damaged if the power pins are still intact.

Hi Bob,
The r/x is a Futaba FP-R127DF Dual Conversion 7 channel, with Futaba FP-S148 servos, and a HydriMax Ultra 2000 battery pack (6.0V 2000mAh Rechargeable NiMH. Bill |

I did the same thing with a Futaba R127D myself. The pins became unsoldered from the circuit board and the battery shorted out and blew up. (the wife loved having the smoke detector go off at 5:30 in the morning) The battery was obviously junk, but the Rx was fine. I just had to plug the battery into an empty channel.
