Spring Air Retracts
I just received a set of these retracts, 700 series. They are locked in the down position and I need to know how to unlock them. This is my first set of pneumatic retracts. No instructions were provided by the manufacture.

Apply air to the cylinder. The gear are spring loaded into the locked down position. You can also slide the barrel against the spring and they will unlock.

Please explain, slide the barrel against the spring. I see the barrel but the spring eludes me.

To retract Springairs without the air hooked up is very quick and easy. It requires a flat tip screwdriver with a blade no more than a sixteenth wide. It is inserted next to the cylinders piston and sideways next to the T bar as in the pictures. There is a molded bevel on the side of the cylinder that is the piviot for the screwdriver or the special tool.
The driver is rocked gently backward to lever the T bar and piston rod slightly out of the cylinder and it will go over center and the gear can easily be retracted aginst the spring. John |

RE: Spring Air Retracts
Thanks everyone for the explanations and pictures. This hobby has such a giant pool of knowledgeable people. I used the easiest method of applying air directly to the cyclinder. Now I have more than one option. Thanks again to the people who replied to my inquiry.

RE: Spring Air Retracts
I have a Robart hand pump, that I keep a short peice of tubing on, for cycling gear that are not in plumbed.
