four stroke help

Ok, I just picked up a used saito 82 today. This is my first four stroke. All I have ever run is 2 stroke before. It is already installed but there is not a manual with it. Anyone got any tips on the differences between the two types of motors?

If you go to the horizon hobbies website the manuals are generally available for download.

If not PM me as I have one in pdf format I will be happy to forward to you - just a little big to post as an attachment.

Here's the manual

Just run it like your two stroke with the same fuel to see what it is like?

If you run a four stroke lean, they will back fire and throw the prop

They tune just like any other engine, high speed first and then the low end. Only difference is the valves. Never run your four stroke over the stated working RPM range or you can float the valves just like in a car.

The Saito 82 uses like a 13 X 8, 14 X 6, 14 X4W, 15 X 4W props

well went out and tried it this afternoon and It worked;) Doesnt sound like they rev as high but it ran good. Power wise how would an 82 compare to a 2stroke

This response is kind of late but I have almost all 4 strokes. I love them. Sound good, run good and for scale they are great. I usually use larger props with lots of 'pull'. Cuts down speed but gives a lot of pull for the RPM.

I NEED A LITTLE INPUT PLEASE, I HAVE A HANGER9 PIPER PAWNEE WITH A SAITO 82. CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND THE BEST PROP (SIZE AND MFG). I KNOW SAITO RECOMENDS USING AN APC PROP BUT I'VE HEARD THAT MASTER AIRSCREW "K" SERIES IS MORE EFFECTIVE. WHAT SHOULD THE RPM RANGE BE FOR THE PROP ALSO?

RE: four stroke help

A Master Airscrew 14 X 6 and about 9200 rpm
