Binding problem/Questions?
 

This is the plane I'm working on... <font color="#00265e">Cessna</font>
I'm using a Spektrum DX5e TX and an AR500 Rx


I just went through the Bind process (several times just to make sure) and I cannot get the electricmotor to NOT run at the lowest throttle setting unless I trim it all the way back.
Also, when I go tofull throttle it bucks and kicks like its "missing" and then will finally revto full throttle and smooth out.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

I am not 100% familiar with the DX5 but are you binding with the throttle at lowest position? The problem could actually be with your ESC programming or even a bad ESC rather than the radio.

Yes, lowest position.
The TX and Rx are brand new.
I have another problem that might be connected!?!?

My Rudder servo continuously makes noise like it's trying to move. I can wiggle it and it will stop sometimes but as soon as I move the stick and then let go, itkeeps making the noise. It will also "creep" just a little when I cycle through left/right rudder and letgo. It's either a bad servo oris a symptom of a bigger problem.

The engine also surges at half throttle?

I don't have an extra one. This battery/motor is bigger than my other plane so I'm sure I couldn't swap them.
I think I'll make a call tomorrow to the place I bought it and see what they say. First the package was missing the battery, now this....

You could sawp in a lower capacity ESC for the test. Just don't go to WOT for more tha a second or so.

Maybe this is the problem.
This is the first plane I have had to bind so maybe I've done it wrong...........I put the bind plug into the Bind port BUT, I also had the Ail, Rud, Elev, and throttle hooked in as well.
Does it need to Bind with nothing connected except the Bind plug and Throttle?

All the servos can be connected, that won't hurt anything. I think it is binding fine; otherwise you would have no connection between the radio &amp; receiver and no control of the servos or throttle at all.It sounds more like an ESC issue. It could be a bad ESC or something as simple as ESC programming.

Awww... I thought I figured out a simple fix but you shot me down.. :)
Would the ESC make the servo act a little crazy? The rest of the servo's work fine, it's just the rudder servo.

Switch the rudder servo to a different channel and see if it behaves the same way. If so, you know it is a bad servo.

Thanks... I switched rudder/elevator and the same servo still made the noise. BUT, I can trim it all the way down and it will stop??? Just like the Throttle??

Now I don't know what to do because this is a new plane and I don't need to be buying new parts to fix a new plane....But I want to fly it!!
It's a 50A brushless ESC and the Servo is a sub-micro.
Are the sub-micro's allthe same physical size orshould I take one with meto a hobby shop to match?

I would take it to the LHS. They can test it and determine if it is bad.

Well, it seems to work fine except the clattering noise.

I just sent a long email explaining all this to the company I bought from (Park Flyers). We'll see how good they are at customer service!! http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...wink_smile.gif

Is it a digital servo? They sometimes buzz, but may be OK.

No.. This is no buzz, its a noise basically like when it's moving, but it's not moving. hard to explain but not a digital buzz, I had those on my RC truck.

It is hard to say without hearing it but the noise could be normal and due to the servo just trying to center itself. Does it go away if you wiggle the surface by hand a little? If so, it may be no big deal and will probably stop once in the air. On the other hand, it could be more serious. Definitely have someone at your local club or hobby shop take a look.

If the hobby shop helps you out with something you did not purchase form them, be sure to become their good customer.

Thats exactly what it is doing and sounds like. Like I said, I can trim it all the way to one side and it stops making the noise, Like its "centered". And yes, I can just wiggle the front landinggear (steerable) and it stops.

Well, Just talked to the place I bought the plane and they are sending out a new ESC and servo.
Hope this fixes the problem!!
