Will the MVVS 58 make it to a worse flyer becouse of the extra weigt?
Will the DA pull it easy out of a hover?

If that is your Yak that weighs 16 to 17 lb. yes the DA 50R will be plenty of power
I have a DA 50R in a plane that weighs 19 lb. and I have unlimited vertical performance.

Daniel in sweden,

Yes DA50 will pull QQ-Yak 85" with authority. MVVS 58 is also a good engine for this plane. Look at a video of my plane with DA50. It's all hovering and you can see the power.

Hello Analog Boy

Weight with DA50 is less than 16lbs around 15 1/2lbs. With ZDZ 60 will be little heavier but don't worry about the weight, just build it and fly it. It will fly really light with that combination. As far as CG please refer to manual, everything is explained. Download the new manual from www.QQAircraft.com

Let me know if you needed any help when building.

I am running a MVVS 58 and no problem with weight. Lovely combination. Love the slow down lines.

What prop is that 58 turning. I am thinking 24x10 menz or 24x8. Im not sure how much it will turn. I have heard 24x10 in the mid 6s.

How would a 3W 70 twin work on this plane?

3W70 is a heavy engine. I don't recommend it personally but will double check with Quique.

Thanks for the reply, I'm interested to hear what Quique has to say about this combo. It seems that nobody is making planes for this engine class any longer, everything jumps from the 50cc to the 100cc.

Problem is 3W70B2 is a heavy engine for what its got to offer. Remember this engine is long discontinued and even 3W doesn't make it anymore. New airplanes are all relatively light and require light engines for best performance. All the engine mfgs are competing to offer their customers reliable, powerful engines as light as possible. By the time you have the mufflers, ignition and ignition battery on that 3WB2, you would be at about 6 lbs or more if I remember correctly! That's too much weight upfront that will increase your wing loading. I am most certain that 3D performance with that engine will be extremely limited but I will check with Quique on the IMAC part. I should have an answer for by Thursday since Quique is out on a trip.

Thank you,
Reza

Reza: I was wodering if you could get some specs on the YAK 85", what servos do you recomend, and to get it to weight under 17 pounds, how many batteries. I´m asking this because I have a ZDZ 50NG and this engine has a little les power than the DA50 on an incowl muffler. I have another YAK, but it is 18.5 pounds and the engine does not hover it very good, so I´m looking for a lighter plane for it.
Thanks
John

Hi John,

Please go to www.qqaircraft.com and download the Yak 85" manual. I have all the specs there. In a nutshell, you should have no problem comming under 17lbs with one RX battery and one Ignition battery. Servos minimum 180oz torque but we recommend JR8611 for best results.

Thank you,
Reza

Hi There,

Yes, G62 is fine. It will ceratinly hover tha plane and pull out fine but it's on the heavy side. You will a have a little higher wing loading but it should be fine. Just try not to make it heavier when building.

Thank you,
Reza

The never ending engine question!

Well one more anyway.

Just wondering how the ZDZ 80 twin would be in this plane? The motor weighs 4.1lds bare. I have one and realy cannot afford to go out and buy a new one for this plane.

Thanks for your time and help.

Jon

Jon,

I don't recommend anything less than a 100cc. Sorry about that.

Reza, I think he's talking about the 50cc version

In my 85" I don't see how a 80cc twin could fit. The pics I've seen of a 3W 55 twin required a lot of the cowl to be cut out. With an 80cc, you'd have to cut huge amounts out of the side of the cowl or just fly it with no cowl I think.

Sorry my bad. I have been getting lots of questions on the 102 that threw me off. Like Shakes said, I don't see a problem with weight but you need to remove a lot of the cowl.

Thank you for correcting me shakes.

58 ProSport turns 24X10 Engel @6800. This is after only two gallons through it.

dude that is awsome. I am getting 6500 on a 24x8 jxf. However i compared it to the 24x10 menz and they are actually very similar in size and pitch. The menz might be a tiny bit more load. I think that will be my final prop. I have 9 flights on my yak with it. so about a gallon and a half and it only gets better and better every flight.
