Default Futaba 2.4 G

I have the new QQ 73 and using a Futaba 2.4 G for the first time. Now, traditionally, it was always recommended to place foam under the FM receiver then tape it down in the plane. Do you need the foam on these new digital receivers or can you just double stick tape it down.
Just curious?
thanks

I use 1" velcro strips. Stick one to the reciever and one to the wood. That way you can easily remove the reciever if needed and plus the velcro absorbs some of the vibrations. I have never had one cause problems with this method.

make sure you have the right servos for your 2.4........i wasn't so lucky and found out the hard way that futaba 2.4 recievers are made to work with their servos only.........hitec 5625's won't work so i didn't have to sweat the problem they are having with the recievers overheating........be carefull you don't want to wreck a QQ because futaba hasn't worked out all thier bugs...

I also use velcro on all my FASST receivers from the R606 thru the R6014, never an issue.

By the way, I use Hitec, JR and Futaba servos, they work fine, there is only one Hitec servo that don't work well with the 6014 receiver and Hitec is fixing that issue with that particular servo.

The Hitec 5645 is the one that does not work well with 12chl 6014 receiver. It has to do with 6014 receiver sending out only 2.7v to the servo instead of min 3v. Futaba tech guys told me only solution is to use power expander if using nonFutaba servos.
Futaba manual says that 2.4ghz receivers are NOT prone to vibration interference like the pcm/fm receivers. So you don't have to use foam separation. But gas engines produce a lot of vibration, so I like to protect my $200 receivers from vibration damage anyway.
Quick and clean way to do it is put blue painter tape on back of your receiver, then use CA to glue a piece of 1/4" foam rubber on to the tape backing, then CA the other side of foam rubber to wood part of your plane. Voila!!! Quique and Reza have been doing this for years.
Therea are reports of 6014 receivers shut down when guys were flying in 102 degree heat during summer. There is a lot of this chatter on RCU.

I have the 5645MG's with the R608 FS Futaba Receiver. Will this be a problem?

It will be just fine, the issue was only with the 6014FS. (14 channel)

Thanks Doug. I appreciate it. I was getting confused with everyone's opinions. I'm hoping for a successful test once the transmitter module arrives.
